Jean-Philippe Rochat is the president of the Foundation. He is attorney at law in Lausanne and partner with the law firm Carrard & Partners since 1990. He has experience in the field of business and commercial law. Jean-Philippe Rochat is a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of several Swiss corporations in the field of industry, finance and trading. He is member of the Board of several foundations.
Jean-Pierre KRAEHENBUHL, MD, PhD
Jean-Pierre Kraehenbuhl is the secretary of the Foundation. He is emeritus Professor at the University of Lausanne, and was affiliated member of the Swiss Institute of Cancer Research (ISREC), He is Consultant at the Division of Immunology & Allergy of the University Hospital (CHUV), Lausanne, Switzerland. His field of expertise is mucosal immunology and vaccinology.
He is a member of EMBO and the scientific co-founder of Oravax, now Acambis Ltd.

Jean-Louis Carpentier, MD
Professor Jean-Louis Carpentier is the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva and a member of the rectorate of the University of Geneva. He is Professor in the Department of Cell Physiology and Metabolism of the University of Geneva.
Jonathan FUCHS, MD, MPH
Jonathan Fuchs received an M.D. from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA) and an M.P.H. from Columbia University (New York). He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of California (San Francisco, California, USA) in 2000, and he is now Director of Vaccine Studies at the San Francisco Department of Public Health. He is an assistant clinical professor at the University of California (San Francisco) and co-chair of the Training Executive Committee for the HIV Vaccine Trials Network (Seattle, Washington, USA).
Antoine Geissbuhler, MD
Antoine Geissbuhler is a Professor of Medical Informatics at the Department of Radiology and Medical Informatics at Geneva University School of Medicine, and Director of the Service of Medical Informatics at Geneva University Hospitals. A Philips European Young Scientist first award laureate, he graduated from Geneva University School of Medicine in 1991 and received his doctorate for work on tri-dimensional reconstruction of positron emission tomography images. He then trained in internal medicine under the direction of Prof. Francis Waldvogel. After a post-doctoral fellowship in medical informatics at the University of Pittsburgh and Vanderbilt University, he became associate professor of biomedical informatics and vice-chairman of the Division of Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, under the mentorship of Prof. Randolph Miller and Prof. William Stead, working primarily on the development of clinical information systems and knowledge-management tools. In 1999, he returned to Geneva to head the Division of Medical Informatics in Geneva University Hospitals and School of Medicine.
Author of more than 50 scientific publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, his current research focuses on the development of innovative information systems architectures and computer-based tools for improving the quality and efficiency of care processes, at the local level of the hospital, the regional level of a community healthcare informatics network, and at the global level with the development of a south-south telemedicine network in Western Africa.
Uyen HUYNH-DO, MD, MME
Uyen Huynh-Do is Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Nephrology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bern. She was trained as an MDat the University of Zurich and did her thesis on "Gastroduodenal complications after renal transplantation". She specialized in renal physiology and hypertension. From 1996 to 1999 Uyen Huynh-Do joined the Division of Nephrology and the Vanderbilt Center for Vascular Biology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (Nashville, TN) as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. In 2004 she was appointed Assistant Professor , and in 2008 Associate Professor at the University Hospital of Bern. In 2009 she received a Master of Medical Education (MME) from the University of Bern and the Department of Medical Education, University of Illinois at Chicago, the title of her MME thesis being “Ethics and the kidney for medical students and nephrology fellows: old issues, new challenges”
William PRALONG, MD, PhD
Trained as an MD, William F. Pralong did his Thesis in Transport Phenomena at the Dpt of Pharmacology, School of Medicine in Geneva. He specialized then in Diabetes and Pancreas Physiology. He moved to industry to work on artificial pancreas and then conducted clinical trials in genetherapy for EPO delivery at the Dept of Experimental Surgery with Patrick Aebischer at the CHUV, Lausanne. He joined EPFL in 2000 with EPFL’s President, Patrick Aebischer to set up the curriculum in Life Sciences and Technology and in Bioengineering at the School of Life Sciences.
Michelle ROSSIER, MD
Michelle Rossier was the director of the clinical laboratories of Hematology, Clinical Chemistry and Microbiology at the Hospital of Morges, Switzerland. In 2001 she held the same position with Viollier Inc., one of the largest private clinical laboratories in Switzerland. She joined the HSeT core team in February 2006 to become a project coordinator for several HSeT projects.
Bernard ROSSIER, MD
Bernard Rossier. emeritus Professor and former Director of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology and former Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne, is presently leading a research group working in the field of hypertension. He is recipient of many international Prizes in the field of nephrology. He is a member of EMBO, the Academia Europaea, the deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher Leopoldina, and is a Foreign Honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is Dr. honoris causa of the University Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris. He is member of the Louis Jeantet Foundation in Geneva and the Cloetta Foundation in Zurich.
Dominique Sprumont,
Dr. iur, Associate Professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Neuchâtel, and Founder and Deputy Director of the Institute of Health Law of the University of Neuchâtel. Dominique Sprumont has a very wide experience in the legislation of research involving human beings. He contributed to the drafting of the first national regulation of drug trials in 1993 (IOCM Clinical Trial of Medicinal Product Regulation), as well as to the norms of application at cantonal level. He is currently a legal expert of the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health as regards the Draft Proposal of the Federal Act on Research involving Human Beings.
He was invited by the Swiss Federal Office of Justice to be an observer for the Draft Additional Protocol on Biomedical Research adopted by the CDBI in June 2003. Since 1994, he has been involved in the organisation and conduct of training programmes for ethics committee members in Switzerland. He has also acted as an expert in the Council of Europe’s DEBRA (Ethical Review of Biomedical Research Activity) project in Bulgaria, Slovenia, Estonia and Lithuania.
